Maestro Michael Hall’s unique multimedia experience pulls back the curtain on Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony — a perfect storm of fate and passion! Great for first timers and seasoned fans alike.

Program

Discover Tchaikovsky (multimedia presentation) Maestro Michael Hall
Symphony No.4 Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Did You Know?

·       The opening fanfare represents fate, according to the composer.  “The fatal power which prevents one from attaining the goal of happiness”

·       Tchaikovsky, who is generally agreed to have been homosexual (though he never came out in his lifetime), wrote the piece around the time of his disastrous marriage to a woman.

·       Tchaikovsky dedicated the symphony to another woman, his patron Nadezhda von Meck.  She supported him financially for thirteen years, but they agreed never to meet in person.
